Amiran Mekvabishvili, the Director, Professor. 

 

Amiran (Patronymic Zakaria) Mekvabishvili was born in the village of Grigoleti, Lanchkhuti region, to the family of an office worker. After graduation of secondary school he continued studies at the faculty of history of N. Baratashvili Gori State Pedagogical Institute.  He started his job in secondary school of the village Natanebi. Very soon he was sent by distribution to take a managerial post in Akhaltsikhe region. In the period of the 60-70ies he was a leader of Adigeni and Akhaltsikhe regions, where his managerial, creative and constructive skills were demonstrated especially effectively. On his direct initiative in these regions were constructed roads and buildings of cultural-educational institutions, Meskheti State Theatre, libraries, schools, kindergartens, etc.

 In the 80-ies of the past century Amiran Mekvabishvili started his pedagogical activities. At first he was a Deputy Head of Chair in Technical University of Georgia, then the Head of Ilia Chavchavadze Tbilisi  University, and at present he is a Director of Tbilisi Tourism Academy.

Amiran Mekvabishvili has published over 100 scientific works, issued more than one significant books, including 17 monographs and auxiliary textbooks, e.g. “Citizenship”, “Culture of behavior”, “The world today”, “All the capitals of the world”, “The Georgian family, traditions and modern life”, etc.

On the initiative and with support of Amiran Mekvabishvili the newspaper “On Ilia’s way” is published in the Academy, which by its publications contributes to perfection of educational process and successful implementation of the new reform in the field of education. 

Amiran Mekvabishvili is a Doctor of historical sciences, holds the title of professor, and is the member of Academy of National and Social Relations, and Vice-President of the same academy.

Amiran Mekvabishvili, as an active public worker, is elected a President of charity association Meskheti-2001 and the Mekvabishvili’s Community. He was awarded with more than one l state prizes, the Order of Honor among them.
